Our Process

At Uvalde Meat Market & Processing, we offer affordable and custom slaughter services for beef and hogs. To schedule an animal drop off, call us at 830-278-6247. We will need to know the type of animal and how many animals in advance. If you're a new customer, we're happy to go over all processing instructions so you will get back the cuts your family will love to cook with. We Vaccum Pack and label all cuts for quality so you will know what is in your freezer.

What kind of animals do you process?

Our experienced team has processed everything from big bucks, kangaroos, alligators to giraffes (yes, really). We specialize in wild game processing and have the facilities to handle a wide range of animals, including deer, exotics, and more. In addition, we offer custom slaughter for beef and hogs, ensuring every animal is handled with care and processed to the highest standards.

Can you ship my game to me if I'm hunting from out of state?

We sure can. Just let us know at drop-off and we'll coordinate the packaging and carrier for you. We'll also help you meet any paperwork or shipping regulations.

Do you ship locally in state?

Yes, we do. To ship your product, you will need to provide a physical address either to your home or office (no PO box) and provide credit card information so we will be able to process your payment. We accept all major credit cards.
All orders are shipped via FedEx. For within the State of Texas, orders are shipped on the ground, otherwise, orders are shipped via Express Saver on the 2nd Day. Overnight shipping is available upon request.
Orders are shipped Monday – Wednesday to ensure your package arrives by Friday and not left in a warehouse over the weekend. Perishable items are shipped frozen in a Styrofoam cooler with dry ice.

What’s the best way to bring in a harvest to be processed?

Bring your harvest in as soon as possible, kept cool, clean, and properly tagged. If you can’t get it to us right away, keep the animal on ice (drained, not soaking) or refrigerated to preserve meat quality. Once you arrive, our team will walk you through cut options and answer any questions so your meat is processed exactly how you want it.

Do you work with taxidermists?

Yes. We can recommend trusted, experienced taxidermists in the Uvalde area. While we don’t coordinate or schedule directly with taxidermists on your behalf, we’re happy to point you in the right direction so you can connect with a professional that fits your needs.

Do you offer extended hours during deer season?

Yep! During deer season we extend our hours to better serve hunters. Whether you’re coming in early or getting out of the field late, we do our best to make drop-off convenient. Give us a call for the latest seasonal hours.

How much meat fits in the average freezer?

The average home freezer has 5.81 cubic feet of freezer space which, when packed solid, can hold 203 pounds of meat. Since 35 pounds of meat will fit into one cubic foot, a 20-pound shipment is very small - only about the size of a boot box. A 20-pound order of meat only takes up 10% of the freezer space in an average home refrigerator. Package meat is usually 60% of hanging weight but can differ depending on your cutting instructions.
